About the Lab
Professor Jihee Kim's research lab specializes in organizational behavior, corporate strategy, and non-market strategies with a focus on the interplay between political connections, corporate social responsibility, and managerial decision-making. Her work explores how executive networks influence corporate behaviors such as tax avoidance, philanthropy, and strategic risk-taking, particularly in regulated industries. The lab also investigates multisensory communication in tourism, examining how empathy and destination image shape travel intentions through experimental and econometric methods. Additionally, the lab applies advanced analytical techniques such as DEA, CEM, and structural equation modeling to assess organizational efficiency and strategic performance.

15Abstract Missing from destination image research is a focus on multisensory processing, particularly with respect to multiple types of communication about a destination. In this study a 2 × 2 between‐subject experimental design was employed to explore how multisensory processing of various forms of communication induces or amplifies positive images. At the same time, the relative contributions of empathy and destination image to willingness to visit the tourism destination were investigated. Str
Building upon prior literature on the role of executives in tax payments, this study investigates the relationship between a CEO’s political connections and tax avoidance behavior as a typical type of social irresponsibility of a corporation. We propose that CEOs who are well connected to politicians through family, academic, and professional ties tend to adopt riskier strategic choices such as tax avoidance. We employ a multi-faceted method to quantify political connections in a more comprehens
This paper investigates the impact of airport managerial type and airline market structure on airport efficiency. It explores whether the market shares of the largest airlines differ depending on the managerial type of the airport. In this study, the efficiency scores for the sample airport are measured through DEA (Data Envelop Analysis), and the impacts of the airport managerial type and dominant carrier market share on airport efficiency are subsequently estimated through CEM (Coarsened Exact
By building upon the dual coding theory of learning, this study aims to investigate the combined effects of perceived image and knowledge about world cultural heritage sites in Korea on willingness-to-pay an entrance fee. To do so, a 2 (image: absence vs. presence) x 2 (knowledge: absence vs. presence) experiment was conducted. Then, contingent valuation method (CVM) was used to estimate and compare tourists’ willingness-to-pay among four experimental conditions. The findings revealed that level
Despite extensive interest in nonmarket strategy, not much attention has been paid to the relationship between corporate political activity and corporate social responsibility. Building upon the theoretical perspectives on philanthropic activities as a lever of political strategy, this paper proposes that politically connected CEOs, facing pressure from government to engage in social contribution and striving to gain social legitimacy, actively engage in corporate giving. In addition, such a ten
Scarce attention has been paid to the relationship between corporate political connections and corporate philanthropy, despite extensive interest in non-market strategies. This paper contributes by analyzing the following four points: First, this paper indicates that corporate donations increased among CEOs with strong political connections, as corporate donations were considered as a means to shape favorable business environments and policies. Second, this study demonstrates that legislation ha
Sadomyo(思悼廟) is the first established shrine to keep the late Crown Prince Sado's tablet. It was built in May 1764, but was relocated in a month in the name of Sueunmyo(垂恩廟) reducing the scale of the buildings. In this research, we investigated historical changes of architectural buildings that was built around Sesimdae(洗心臺) through literature analysis in Joseon dynasty. Early modern architectural drawings, in addition, were used to estimate the region of Sadomyo. Consequently, we confirmed that
