Professor Jihoon Wang's research lab specializes in geomechanics and subsurface engineering with a focus on carbon capture and storage (CCS) safety, carbon mineralization in various rock types, and flow assurance in hydrocarbon production. The lab investigates geomechanical risks such as pore pressure buildup, caprock failure, and induced seismicity during CO2 injection, while also advancing predictive modeling for surface uplift and subsidence.
