About the Lab
Professor Jin Bae Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on vascular biology, regenerative medicine, and nanotoxicology. The lab investigates endothelial dysfunction and vascular complications in metabolic diseases such as diabetes, exploring pharmacological interventions like alagebrium to mitigate vascular damage. It also examines the safety and biological behavior of stem cells—particularly human turbinate-derived mesenchymal stem cells—under varying donor conditions, and evaluates the environmental and health impacts of nanomaterials, especially silver nanoparticles in consumer textiles. The lab integrates in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies to bridge basic science with clinical applications.

15Assessment of RH-PAT could be a less operator-dependent and noninvasive method of evaluating vascular endothelial function in patients with stable angina.
We conclude that turbinate size does not affect the characterization, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation potential of hTMSCs in vitro test, and therefore should not affect the clinical decision of whether to use autologous or allogenic hTMSCs. However, more experiments are required to definitively state the relationship of hTMSCs with turbinate size or the process NSD in humans.
