About the Lab
Professor Johan Kang's research lab focuses on plant molecular biology, particularly the regulation of carbon and nitrogen metabolism in *Arabidopsis thaliana*, with a central emphasis on the role of the putative glutamate receptor 1.1 (AtGLR1.1) in metabolic crosstalk and stress responses. The lab investigates how ionotropic glutamate receptors influence hormonal signaling—especially abscisic acid (ABA)—to modulate seed germination and root development under environmental stress. Additionally, the lab explores clinical and epidemiological aspects of pediatric diseases, including Kawasaki disease and post-transplant neurologic complications, reflecting a translational research approach bridging plant biology and human health.
