About the Lab

Professor Jong Eun Noh's research lab focuses on the pathophysiology of liver diseases, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progression to steatohepatitis and fibrosis. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms involving exosomes, microRNAs, and metabolic signaling pathways such as PPAR-alpha and survival/apoptosis regulation in hepatocytes. A key emphasis is on developing non-invasive diagnostic tools using advanced imaging techniques like MRI, elastography, and proton density fat fraction for assessing hepatic steatosis and fibrosis. The lab also explores the intersection of liver disease with metabolic syndrome and cancer, including the impact of NAFLD on breast cancer prognosis.
