About the Lab
Professor Jong Han Yu's research lab focuses on cancer immunology and molecular oncology, with a central emphasis on understanding the tumor immune microenvironment, particularly the role of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) in breast cancer subtypes. The lab investigates the dynamic changes in immune responses following neoadjuvant chemotherapy, aiming to identify predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy response. They also explore mechanisms of metastatic inefficiency and the prognostic significance of immune cell infiltration and MHC class I expression in HER2-positive and triple-negative breast cancers.

The survival analysis demonstrated that current IHC-based classification could mislead the treatment and result in poor outcome. Current guidelines for IHC might be updated accordingly.

Due to the rarity of primary angiosarcoma of the breast, optimal management is based on expert opinion. The aim of this study was to review all primary angiosarcomas of the breast obtained from a single center in terms of clinicopathologic characteristics, treatment, and survival outcomes. From 1997 to 2020, 15 patients with primary angiosarcoma of the breast underwent either mastectomy or wide excision.
