About the Lab
Professor Jong-ki Jo's research lab specializes in urological and urodynamic technologies, focusing on improving post-surgical recovery and lower urinary tract health. The lab investigates clinical outcomes following prostatectomy, particularly the role of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors in erectile function recovery, and explores innovative wearable technologies for continuous bladder volume monitoring. Research also extends to epidemiological studies on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), overactive bladder (OAB), and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), with a focus on identifying modifiable risk factors in the Korean population. Purpose: To assess the impact of intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) on the outcomes of robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP).
The prevalence of OAB in our study was about 14.1% and the risk factors for OAB were educational status, stroke, osteoporosis, asthma, rhinitis, and cataract. Knowledge of these risk factors may help in the diagnosis and treatment of OAB.
