Professor Juhong Park's research lab specializes in interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, and bioactive natural products. The lab focuses on developing advanced path planning algorithms for robotic systems using hybrid methods combining reinforcement learning, neural networks, and computer vision to enhance efficiency and autonomy in dynamic environments. Additionally, the lab investigates the phytochemical composition and bioactive properties of underutilized plant parts, such as Coccinia grandis and onion leaves, to explore their nutritional and therapeutic potential. A parallel line of research explores nanomaterials for energy applications, particularly silicon nanowires with engineered surface structures to improve thermoelectric performance.

Path planning for robot arms to reach a target and avoid obstacles has had a crucial role in manufacturing automation. Although many path planning algorithms, including RRT, APF, PRM, and RL-based, have been presented, they have many problems: a time-consuming process, high computational costs, slowness, non-optimal paths, irregular paths, failure to find a path, and complexity. Scholars have tried to address some of these issues. However, those methods still suffer from slowness and complexity.
