About the Lab
Professor Jun Jeong's research lab focuses on translational oncology and patient-centered cancer care, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes in breast and pancreatic cancers. The lab investigates biomarkers such as tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), p16, and p53 proteins to understand tumor biology and predict treatment response. It also explores clinical decision-making in oncology, including the safety of interrupting endocrine therapy for pregnancy and the role of metabolic imaging (e.g., FDG-PET/SUVmax) in predicting recurrence. We aimed to investigate the correlation between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and pathologic complete response (pCR) and survival outcomes in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The baseline NLR was evaluated in non-metastatic, HER2-negative breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. We found that A20 expression is a poor prognostic marker in breast cancer. The prognostic impact of A20 was pronounced in aggressive tumors, such as HER2-positive and TNBC subtypes. Our findings suggested that A20 may be a valuable target in patients with aggressive breast cancer.
