본 연구는 전통미술작품감상 및 관련 통합활동이 유아의 미적태도와 자아존중감 향상에 도움이 될 것인지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전통미술작품 감상 및 관련 통합 프로그램을 구성하였으며, 서울시에 중랑구 소재 D유치원의 만 5세 유아 46명을 대상으로 적용하였다. 유아는 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단과 종래 표현중심 미술활동을 한 비교집단으로 구분하였으며, 사전과 사후 검사를 통해 프로그램 효과를 검증하였다. 검증결과 프로그램은 유아의 미적태도 중 표상 능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향력을 보였으나, 예술성 향상에 미친 효과는 미미했다. 자아존중감의 경우 긍정적인 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이로써 전통미술작품 감상을 통한 통합활동 경험은 유아의 그림 표상 능력 증진과 자아존중감의 향상에 효과가 있다고 할 수 있겠다.
