Professor Kyung-Ah Choi's research lab specializes in the psychological and emotional impact of environmental design, particularly focusing on materiality, lighting, and spatial configuration in architectural and immersive environments. The lab investigates how sensory and perceptual factors—such as material texture, color temperature, lighting placement, and spatialization—shape human emotional responses and spatial perception in both physical and virtual settings. Current research spans exhibition design, virtual reality storytelling, theatrical lighting, and residential interior perception, with an emphasis on creating emotionally engaging and human-centered spaces. The lab employs virtual reality and physiological data (e.g., ECG) to empirically evaluate design interventions.
