About the Lab

Professor Kyung-Tak Song's research lab specializes in musculoskeletal biomechanics, with a focus on lower extremity alignment, dynamic postural control, and joint stability in dancers and athletes. The lab investigates the effects of chronic ankle instability, joint cooling, and sport-specific training on movement kinematics, kinetics, and structural alignment. Key research directions include lower limb asymmetry, foot and ankle biomechanics, and the application of clinical assessment tools in dance medicine.

[방법] 최근 3개월 간 부상이 없는 만 20, 30대 여성 발레전공자 29명과 일반인 20명을 대상으로 quadriceps (Q-angle, Q각), tibiofemoral(TF-angle, 대퇴경골각), rearfoot(RF angle, 후족각), genu-recurvatum(GR angle, 후반슬)의 각, tibial torsion(경골 회전각) 및 varum(안쪽굽음), navicular drop(ND, 발배뼈 하강 높이)을 측정하였다.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether dancers with chronic ankle instability (CAI) exhibit different characteristics in dynamic postural control ability and ankle joint laxity compared to dancers without CAI and non-dancers with CAI. Method: Twelve dancers with CAI, 14 dancers without CAI, and 12 non-dancers with CAI participated in the study. Dynamic balance was evaluated using the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) and the single-leg hop balance. The laxity of the ank

OBJECTIVES This study examined the immediate effect of unilateral ankle or knee joint cooling on the low-erextremity kinematics and kinetics during two-legged jumping and landing. METHODS Twenty healthy adults randomly completed three data collection sessions for ankle or knee joint cooling, or control. For each session, participants performed two-legged countermovement jumps and lands. For joint cooling, two ice bags were directly placed to the right side and secured with a compression bandage.
