About the Lab
Professor Lee Dong-ki's research lab specializes in urological interventional radiology and pediatric urology, with a strong focus on minimally invasive surgical techniques and the management of complex genitourinary disorders. The lab investigates renal vascular injuries, acute pyelonephritis epidemiology, and innovative procedures such as single-port (LESS) nephrectomy and mobile acoustic uroflowmetry for pediatric patients. 15Renal artery pseudoaneurysm is uncommon complication after blunt trauma injury. We report here on a case of delayed bleeding from a renal artery pseudoaneurysm at 21 days after the injury. It was successfully treated by angioembolization despite the fact that the patient was hemodynamically unstable.
The epidemiology of acute pyelonephritis (APN) has changed with time. Therefore we investigated the current clinical characteristics of APN and the significance of proper surgical management for treatment of 1,026 APN patients in South Korea for the past 5 yr. LESS nephrectomy for an ectopic ureter with dysplastic kidney is a safe and feasible method with better cosmesis, compared with classic nephrectomy. LESS nephrectomy is a promising method in pediatrics.

Open burning of solid wastes was of current interest particularly in Seoul metro area. In order to estimate the effect of irregular open burning on the air quality, this study investigated the emission of harmful air pollutants from incineration of a few typical waste examples: paper, wood, plastics and MSW.
