About the Lab
Professor Lee Gangpyo's research lab focuses on neuromuscular and rehabilitation sciences, with a strong emphasis on pediatric dysphagia, muscle denervation, and upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation. The lab investigates neurogenic swallowing disorders through clinical and imaging studies, explores apoptotic responses in denervated muscles across aging, and pioneers low-cost, 3D-printed body-powered prostheses for finger amputees. The lab also examines the feasibility of speech recognition systems in neurological disorders, highlighting a translational approach from basic science to clinical application.

15OBJECTIVE: To evaluate demographic characteristics of children with suspected dysphagia who underwent videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) and to identify factors related to penetration or aspiration. METHODS: Medical records of 352 children (197 boys, 155 girls) with suspected dysphagia who were referred for VFSS were reviewed retrospectively. INTRODUCTION: We investigated the apoptotic response to different degrees of denervation in young and older rats randomized into control (C), partial (PD), and complete denervation (CD) of muscles innervated by the sciatic nerve. METHODS: Muscle wet weight to body weight (MWW/BW), myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoforms, and fiber cross-sectional area were determined in gastrocnemius and soleus muscles. This study showed that a well-designed rehabilitation program could improve ambulatory function in older patients after hip fracture surgery and that cognitive impairment and poor balance control may inhibit the recovery of ambulatory function.
RATIONALE: The most common upper limb amputations are finger amputations, resulting in functional limitations that lead to problems with activities of daily living or job loss. BMD was not associated with sagittal spinal balance in the aged. Sagittal spinal balance was explained partly by lumbar lordosis and compression fracture. Further study is warranted to understand progression of sagittal imbalance with age.
The differential electrophysiological effects of focal vibration were verified. The muscle belly may be the more effective site for reducing the H-reflex compared to the tendon. 다수의 사용자들의 협력태깅으로 생성되는 폭소노미는 웹 2.0을 이끌고 있는 대표적인 요소이다. 태그는 어떤 웹 문서를 기술하는 웹 메타데이타라고 할 수 있는데, 협력태깅으로 이루어진 태그들 사이의 의미적인 상하위 관계를 밝혀내 이를 시각화한다면, 사용자들이 문서의 메타데이타를 보다 직관적으로 이해하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 del.icio.us의 태그들을 대상으로 하여, Wikipedia 텍스트를 이용한 태그들간 상하위 관계 산출 기법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 태그들이 Wikipeida 텍스트상에서 출현하는 빈도수를 기반으로 태그들간 상하위 관계를 산출하는 통계적인 모델링을 제안하였고, 각각의 태그를 그에 상응하는 Wikipedia 텍스트에 매핑시키는 TSD 기법을 제안하였다. 이렇게 산출된 상하위 관계 짝들은 시각화 기법을 통하여 효과적으로 화면에 표현되었다. 실제로 우리가 제안하는 알고리즘이 태그들간의 상하위 관계들을 높은 정확도로 찾아내었음을 실험을 통해 확
웹 2.0 시대에는 웹 상의 사용자들이 수많은 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 생성함에 따라서 멀티미디어 검색이 더욱 중요하게 되었다. URL, 사진, 동영상과 같은 웹 컨텐츠를 설명하는 간단한 키워드인 태그는, 웹 컨텐츠의 메타데이터 역할을 하고 있다. 태그가 달린 데이터의 양이 많아지면 훨씬 풍부한 메타데이터를 포함한 웹 컨텐츠를 대상으로 검색이 가능하기 때문에 태그를 이용한 검색으로 사용자가 원하는 결과를 찾을 수 있는 가능성이 높아지게 된다. 하지만 실제로 태그를 사용하는 사용자의 수는 많지 않다. 태그를 입력하는 과정이 번거롭기 때문이거나 어떠한 태그를 입력하는 것이 다른 사용자들로부터의 접근성을 높일 수 있는지 모르기 때문이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서, 사용자의 태그 입력 과정을 도와주는 기법인 태그 추천이 연구되었다. 사용자가 어떠한 웹 컨텐츠를 게재하려고 할 때, 태그 추천 시스템이 해당 웹 컨텐츠에 적절한 태그를 추천하면, 사용자는 적절한 태그를 선택하는 것으로 태그 입력
