About the Lab

Professor Lee Juyong's research lab specializes in wireless communication systems, with a focus on resource allocation, quality of service (QoS) provisioning, and cross-layer optimization in next-generation networks. The lab investigates key challenges in OFDMA systems, IEEE 802.11e EDCA mechanisms, and mobile WiMAX, emphasizing efficient bandwidth and power allocation to enhance system performance and fairness. Additionally, the lab explores performance modeling and simulation techniques such as fluid simulation and CAC algorithms to support diverse traffic classes under self-similar traffic conditions. Recent interdisciplinary work also extends into biomedical applications, including real-time elastography for erectile dysfunction assessment, demonstrating a growing interest in integrating signal processing with healthcare technologies.

In OFDMA systems adopting fractional frequency reuse, we can allocate orthogonal bandwidth to femtocells, which mitigates throughput degradation of macrocell users. In this paper, we discuss the optimal power allocation for femtocells with different orthogonal subbands, based on analysis of macrocell interferences.

Distributed optimal TXOP control for throughput requirements in IEEE 802.11e wireless LAN

This paper designs a distributed Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) adaptation algorithm for IEEE802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA). Each node measures its throughput in a window and compares it with a target value. If the measured throughput is higher than the target value, the node reduces its TXOP, otherwise if the measured value is less than the target throughput, the node increases its TXOP. We show that the target throughput can be achieved in a globally stable manner.
