About the Lab
Professor Min Ho Kang's research lab focuses on the intersection of immunology, ophthalmology, and biomedical technology, with a strong emphasis on understanding the role of inflammatory mediators—particularly IL-17 and Th-17 cells—in ocular surface diseases such as dry eye syndrome, Sjögren’s syndrome, and autoimmune keratitis. The lab also explores innovative, non-chemical sterilization methods using plasma and ozone for agricultural applications, especially in seed treatment to combat fungal pathogens. Additionally, the lab investigates the therapeutic potential of plasma-generated nitric oxide in plant fertilization and sanitation, highlighting a translational approach from biomedical to agricultural sciences. We report non-phase-matched third harmonic generation of CO2 TEA laser pulses in SF6 gas. Measurement of the nonlinear susceptibility indicates a strong resonant enhancement due to nearby vibrational-rotational transitions. The nonlinear susceptibility is also calculated and compared with the experimental results.

Two-photon resonance-enhanced third harmonic generation of CO2 laser radiation has been studied in DCl. The measurements of the phase-matched third harmonic signal in a DCl-CF4 mixture of 1 : 0.010 up to 5 atm show that the third-order susceptibility for DCl gas is substantially larger than that for the CO gas.
