About the Lab
Professor Min Jeong Lee's research lab specializes in the immunomodulatory and antioxidative effects of probiotic bacteria and carotenoids, with a focus on their roles in preventing allergic diseases and protecting against UV-induced skin damage. The lab investigates how specific strains of Lactobacillus, such as L. brevis HY7401 and L. casei KCTC 3260, can regulate immune responses and reduce allergic sensitization through Th1/Th2 balance modulation. We had found that orally administered Lactobacillus species were effective immune modulators in ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized mice. To validate these findings, we investigated the effects of orally administered Lactobacillus brevis HY7401 in OVA-T cell receptor transgenic mice. PURPOSE: The diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis (APN) is often difficult, as its clinical and biological manifestations are non-specific in children. If not treated quickly and adequately, however, APN may cause irreversible renal damage, possibly leading to hypertension and chronic renal failure.
