About the Lab
Professor Min-jeong Shin's research lab focuses on youth mental health and social welfare, with a primary emphasis on understanding the causes, contexts, and impacts of cyber and verbal violence among elementary school students. The lab integrates mixed-methods research—combining quantitative analysis of national survey data with qualitative insights from expert interviews—to explore factors such as prior victimization, aggression, peer influence, and developmental perceptions of harm. The lab also investigates the gap between youth and professionals’ perceptions of cyber victimization severity, aiming to inform school social work interventions and prevention strategies.

3본 연구는 초등학생의 사이버언어폭력에 영향을 미치는 요인과 경험하는 맥락을 동시에 살펴보면서 사이버언어폭력을 보다 통합적으로 이해하고자 한다. 이를 위해 한국청소년패널 자료를 활용하여 양적연구를 실시하고 초등학생과 관련된 전문가 집단의 개인심층면담를 토대로 한 질적연구를 수행하여 결과를 통합하는 혼합연구방법을 활용하여 연구를 진행했다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생의 현실언어폭력 경험이 사이버언어폭력 경험에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 언어폭력의 공간 전환이 있을 수 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 공격성이 영향을 주는 것으로 예측되었는데, 이러한 공격성은 장난 또는 의도가 없는 것이 아니라 보복 또는 분노의 대리 표출을 목적으로 해당 가해자나 제 3자이자 약자인 또래에게 2차 피해가 갈 수 있는 가능성이 있음을 밝혔다. 셋째, 비행친구요인이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났는데, 강자로서의 과시, 강자를 동경하고 열망하는 마음에서의 모방, 집단에서 다수가 하는 행동을 생각
