About the Lab

Professor Myeonggon Kim's research lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying oxidative stress-related diseases, particularly atrial fibrillation and smoking-related coronary artery disease. The lab integrates genomics, proteomics, and molecular biology techniques to investigate gene expression profiles, genetic polymorphisms (e.g., GSTM1/T1), and environmental toxicant exposure—such as PAHs and dioxins—in occupational and clinical populations. A key research direction involves evaluating the impact of environmental stressors on DNA damage and inflammatory pathways, with translational applications in preventive cardiology and toxicology. The lab also explores biomaterials, such as titanium surface modifications, for biomedical applications in tissue integration and implantology.
