Learning to Compose Task-Specific Tree Structures
Jihun Choi, Kang Min Yoo, Sang-goo Lee
OA

For years, recursive neural networks (RvNNs) have been shown to be suitable for representing text into fixed-length vectors and achieved good performance on several natural language processing tasks. However, the main drawback of RvNNs is that they require structured input, which makes data preparation and model implementation hard. In this paper, we propose Gumbel Tree-LSTM, a novel tree-structured long short-term memory architecture that learns how to compose task-specific tree structures only

A new flash memory management for flash storage system
Han‐Joon Kim, Sang-goo Lee

Proposes a new way of managing flash memory space for flash memory-specific file systems based on a log-structured file system. Flash memory has attractive features such as non-volatility and fast I/O speed, but it also suffers from an inability to update in place, and limited usage cycles. These drawbacks require many changes to conventional storage (file) management techniques. Our focus is on lowering the cleaning cost and evenly utilizing flash memory cells while maintaining a balance betwee

Abstract With the recent expansion of the applicability of artificial intelligence into the creative realm, attempts are being made to use AI (artificial intelligence) in the garment development system in various ways, both in academia and the fashion business. Several IT companies have developed and possess AI-based garment design technologies that utilize StyleGAN2 for image transformation. However, they are not widely utilized in the fashion business. Since fashion brands need to create numer

SJR Q1Applied Physics Letters

Transparent and stoichiometric lead-magnesium-niobate crystals were grown by the Bridgman method. Crystals of centimeter size were obtained without material loss by employing self-seeded and seeded techniques using sealed platinum crucibles. The fastest growth direction was found to be pseudocubic 〈111〉. As-grown crystals showed a broad absorption band centered near λ=600 nm and an OH absorption near λ=2830 nm. The electrostrictive coefficient Q11 was determined to be 1.15×10−2 m4 C−2 from the m

Challenges and Opportunities in Information Quality
Sang-goo Lee

Summary form only given. Each year companies are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in data cleansing and other activities to improve the quality of information they use to conduct business. The hidden cost of bad data - lost opportunities, low productivity, waste, and myriads of other consequences - is believed to be much higher than these direct costs. One study estimates this combined cost due to bad data to be over U$30 billion in year 2006 alone. As business operations rely more and

Embryo Aggregation Promotes Derivation Efficiency of Outgrowths from Porcine Blastocysts

Porcine embryonic stem cells (pESCs) have become an advantageous experimental tool for developing therapeutic applications and producing transgenic animals. However, despite numerous reports of putative pESC lines, deriving validated pESC lines from embryos produced in vitro remains difficult. Here, we report that embryo aggregation was useful for deriving pESCs from in vitro-produced embryos. Blastocysts derived from embryo aggregation formed a larger number of colonies and maintained cell cult

Influences of Animal Mucins on Peroxidase Activity in Solution and on the Surface of Hydroxyapatite
Journal of Oral Medicine and Pain

Animal mucins have structural characteristics similar to human salivary mucins. Animal mucins have been regarded as suitable substances for saliva substitutes. Since animal mucin molecules in saliva substitutes and host-derived antimicrobial salivary molecules exist simultaneously in whole saliva and the pellicles of patients with dry mouth, interactions may occur between these molecules. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of animal mucins on peroxidase activity in soluti

Longitudinal Modal Analysis of a LOX-filled Tank Using the Virtual Mass Method

For liquid rocket engine(LRE)-based space launch vehicles, longitudinal instability, often referred to as the pogo phenomenon in the literature is predicted. In the building block of system-level task, accurate dynamic modeling of a fluidfilled tank is an essential. This paper attempts to apply the virtual mass method that accounts for the interaction of the vehicle structure and the enclosed liquid oxygen to LOX-filled tanks. The virtual mass method is applied in a modal analysis considering th

SJR Q4Polymer Korea

Chain propagation and chain transfer in anionic polymerization of hexafluoropropylene oxide were investigated under various reaction conditions such as the stabilization of reaction temperature, the amount of hexafluoropropylene solvent, and the feeding rate of hexafluoropropylene oxide monomer. Anionic initiator for the polymerization was synthesized from cesium fluoride and hexafluoropropylene oxide in tetraethyleneglycol dimethylether. It was possible to obtain a high molecular weight poly(HF
