Professor Sang-Hee Kang's research lab focuses on molecular oncology and cancer biology, with a primary emphasis on understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying colorectal cancer, meningioma, and cancer stem cells. The lab investigates key regulatory factors such as MSI status, FOXM1, TGM2, and the anticancer effects of repurposed drugs like metformin to identify novel therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers. Their work integrates high-throughput genomics, clinical data analysis, and experimental validation to improve cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.

Metformin, a first-line drug used to treat type 2 diabetes, has also been shown to have anticancer effects against a variety of malignancies, including colorectal cancer.
