About the Lab

Professor Sang Min Kim's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression, particularly the role of inflammatory cytokines and natural compounds in regulating tumor cell migration and invasion. The lab also investigates bone metabolism and regenerative processes, including the effects of osteoporosis treatments and surgical techniques on orthopedic outcomes. Additionally, the lab explores cellular responses to environmental stressors such as UV radiation, with a focus on signaling pathways involving ceramide and matrix metalloproteinases in skin aging and fibrosis. This prospective study was conducted to report the effect of oral factor Xa inhibitor and low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) on surgical complications following total hip arthroplasty (THA). The patients with an age < 60 years were randomly assigned to three groups (rivaroxaban, enoxaparin, and placebo) and the patients with an age ≥ 60 years were assigned to two groups (rivaroxaban and enoxaparin). All drug regimens started at 12 hours postoperatively and continued for two weeks after surgery.
