About the Lab
Professor Sang-min Park's research lab focuses on the long-term health impacts of common medical exposures, particularly antibiotics, diabetes, and metabolic disorders, with a strong emphasis on population-based cohort studies using large-scale national health databases. The lab investigates causal relationships between pharmaceutical exposures—such as antibiotics and metformin—and chronic diseases including diabetes, dementia, lung cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and cardiovascular conditions. A central theme is understanding the interplay between microbiota, systemic inflammation, and disease progression through rigorous epidemiological methods. The lab also explores how environmental factors like air pollution interact with lifestyle behaviors and pharmacological treatments in disease risk modulation.
