About the Lab
Professor Sangwook Park's research lab focuses on advanced materials and sustainable energy systems, with a strong emphasis on atomic layer deposition (ALD) for nanostructured catalytic materials, particularly for oxygen evolution and reduction reactions in clean energy applications. The lab also explores socio-technical systems, especially the strategic niche management of hydrogen energy technologies, integrating engineering with policy and social science. Additionally, the lab investigates supply chain integration and optimization, combining operations management with information systems and performance measurement. A further research direction involves structural health monitoring using advanced sensing and modeling techniques, such as terrestrial laser scanning and lattice-based stress distribution models.

15Abstract The ability to deposit conformal catalytic thin films enables opportunities to achieve complex nanostructured designs for catalysis. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is capable of creating conformal thin films over complex substrates. Here, ALD‐MnO x on glassy carbon is investigated as a catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), two reactions that are of growing interest due to their many applications in alternative energy technologies. The f
This paper overviews the concept of the strategic niche management, which emphasises the social aspects of new technologies and calls for relevant government policies for socio-technical transition. Hydrogen energy technologies remain in the niche level, thus the SNM perspective is appropriate to be applied. The reason why, and the way how to see hydrogen as a socio-technical niche are discussed, followed by an analytic argument on hydrogen policies and their SNM characteristics. Final part of t
In the field of structural health monitoring, terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) is commonly used as a measurement method for structural safety evaluation. However, the major disadvantages of using laser pulses is the possibility of data discontinuity and the likelihood of the existence a certain lev el of error because acquired points tend to not have a uniform distribution. This paper suggests a stress distribution estimation model for elastic beam structures using multi-dimensional double-layer
In the denoising literature, research based on the nonlocal means (NLM) filter has been done and there have been many variations and improvements regarding weight function and parameter optimization. Here, a NLM filter with patch-based difference (PBD) refinement is presented. PBD refinement, which is the weighted average of the PBD values, is performed with respect to the difference images of all the locations in a refinement kernel. With refined and denoised PBD values, pattern adaptive smooth
This paper models supply chain uncertainties in the dynamic Newsboy problem context. The system consists of one supplier and one retailer who place an order to the supplier every period. Demand uncertainty is modeled as stochastic period demand, and supply uncertainty as the uncertainty in quantities delivered by the supplier. The supplier delivers exactly the amount ordered by the retailer with probability of and the amount minus K with probability of (1-). We formulate the problem as a dynamic
This article explores the relationship between science and technology, on the one hand, and science, technology, and innovation policy, on the other. It argues that interactions between them involve a co-evolutionary process that varies with national systems of innovation. To find real-time evidence for this, an emerging technology was chosen for analysis, namely hydrogen energy technology. Various systemic perspectives aim to show how the development path of a technology is shaped by different
In Korea, seven species belonging to five genera of the family Bostrichidae have been recorded to date. To these seven species, we are adding four other species, namely, Psoa rubripennis sp. nov., Dinoderus speculifer Lesne, 1895, Heterobostrychus hamatipennis (Lesne, 1895), and Xylothrips pekinensis (Lesne, 1902: comb. nov.) to the Korean fauna. In addition, the genus Calophagus Lesne, 1902, is synonymized with the genus Xylothrips Lesne, 1901 (syn. nov.) and Xylothrips cathaicus Reichardt, 196
Imaging sensors have physical limitations in spatial resolution, spectral resolution and dynamic range. Super-resolution (SR) image processing technology is to overcome these physical limitations. For decades, numerous researches have been conducted from theoretical points of view, and a variety of high-performance SR algorithms have been proposed. However, there is little work on the implementation of real-world SR imaging system. We have implemented two types of SR imaging systems. First, 9-ey
Recently, development of long endurance electric powered airplane has been conducted worldwidely. Light structural weight of a main wing with sufficient structural integrity is essential for long endurance flight. Since a main wing with a slender spar can occur catastrophic fracture under the flight, it is important to establish a design and verification method for both the weight reduction and structural integrity. In this paper, structural design and analysis of the main wing of HALE UAV with
