(연구배경 및 목적) 대형복합쇼핑몰은 제1세대에서 제5세대에 이르기까지 단순한 소비 중심 구조를 넘어, 다양한 비상업적 공간을 도입하며 체류 경험을 유도하는 복합적 공간으로 진화해왔다. 이러한 변화 속에서 대형복합쇼핑몰 내‘매개공간’에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으며, 제5세대 대형복합쇼핑몰의 매개공간은 전통적인 백화점 형태의 제1세대와 달리 단순한 연결 경로를 넘어 독립적 장소로서 기능한다. 이 공간은 다양한 기능과 경험이 교차하며, 일상적 공간 질서와는 다른 방식으로 작동하는 새로운 공간적 의미를 보여준다는 점에서 주목된다. 이에 본 연구는 미셸 푸코의‘헤테로토피아’개념을 바탕으로, 제5세대 대형복합쇼핑몰의 세대적 변화 속에서 나타난 매개공간의 공간적 형태와 기능적 특성을 분석하고, 공간 설계 시 방향성을 위한 기초자료로 활용되는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구배경 인류세의 도래와 함께 대량생산과 소비문화가 확산되며 박람회는 산업 진흥과 국제 교류의 플랫폼으로 발전해왔으나, 단기간에 대규모 자원을 소비하고 막대한 폐기물과 탄소 배출을 유발함으로써 환경에 부정적인 영향을 초래한다. 최근 일부 미술관 중심의 지속가능한 전시 실천은 나타나지만, 박람회 형식의 전시에서는 관련 노력이 어떻게 실현되고 있는지에 대한 체계적 분석이 부족하다. 이에 본 연구는 국제 디자인 페어의 전시공간을 일회성 소비 구조가 아닌, 자원 순환과 환경 인식 공유가 실천되는 공간으로 보고, 실제 운영에 반영된 지속가능성 전략을 사례 분석을 통해 고찰하였다. 하노버 원칙과 국제 지속가능성 가이드라인을 분석 기준으로 설정하고, 사례 분석을 통해 공간 구성과 자원 운용 방식에 반영된 실천 양상을 도출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 전시기획의 실천적 기준을 제시하고, 향후 지속가능한 전시 설계를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있음을 제안한다. 연구방법 컨벤션 센터는 산업형 전시를 수용하는
