About the Lab

Professor Seung-Yup Ku's research lab focuses on reproductive biology and bioengineering, with a strong emphasis on ovarian function, fertility preservation, and the development of artificial reproductive tissues. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying ovarian follicle development, including the roles of microRNAs and genetic polymorphisms in regulating oocyte maturation and bone mineral density in women. It also explores innovative strategies such as artificial ovary technology and ovarian tissue cryopreservation to address infertility and reproductive failure, particularly in cancer survivors and those with premature ovarian insufficiency.
