About the Lab
Professor Seungguk Baek's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on head and neck cancers, particularly thyroid and tongue cancers, and neurological disorders such as gliomas and hearing loss. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying disease progression, including lymph node metastasis, blood-brain barrier penetration, and epithelial barrier dysfunction. Using clinical data, genomics, and nanotechnology, the lab develops targeted therapeutic strategies, including nanoparticle-based drug delivery and laser-activated nanoshells for tumor ablation.

BACKGROUND: The Korean Society of Thyroid Head and Neck Surgery established a nationwide multicenter registry of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) and evaluated the prognostic factors and treatment outcomes of ATC.
