About the Lab
Professor Sung-Yong Shin's research lab focuses on cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, with a particular emphasis on atrial fibrillation, endothelial dysfunction, and the role of visceral adipose tissue—especially epicardial adipose tissue—in cardiac remodeling and arrhythmia. The lab investigates the pathophysiological links between metabolic health, vascular function, and cardiac outcomes, integrating medical imaging, biomarker analysis, and clinical outcomes. Additionally, the lab explores novel antimicrobial peptides with therapeutic potential, highlighting a translational approach to drug development.
