Professor Tae-Young Gong's research lab specializes in critical care medicine and emergency medicine, focusing on identifying novel prognostic biomarkers and improving clinical outcomes in acute, life-threatening conditions. The lab investigates inflammatory and systemic stress markers—particularly the delta neutrophil index (DNI) and lactate/albumin ratio (LAR)—to predict disease severity and survival in patients with acute cholangitis, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), septic shock, and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Using retrospective and prospective cohort studies, the lab develops and validates predictive nomograms to guide early risk stratification and clinical decision-making. The integration of emerging technologies, such as virtual reality for medical education, further expands the lab’s translational research scope.
