About the Lab
Professor Yejee Lim's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on oxidative stress mechanisms in disease pathogenesis, particularly in asbestos-related lung carcinogenesis. The lab investigates molecular markers of DNA damage and repair, such as 8-hydroxyguanine and related enzymes (e.g., hOGG1, hMTH1), to understand the role of oxidative stress in cancer development. Additionally, the lab explores clinical interventions in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, including the use of adenosine in percutaneous coronary intervention and early subcutaneous insulin therapy in severe hyperglycemia. 15We examined 8-hydroxyguanine (8-OH-Gua) formation and 8-OH-Gua repair enzyme activity in pulmonary type-II-like epithelial cells to determine whether oxidative stress induced by asbestos plays a role in its carcinogenic mechanism. AIMS: We sought to investigate the effect of adenosine pretreatment on the incidence of myonecrosis after non-urgent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
