About the Lab

Professor Yeonsuk Seo's research lab focuses on liver diseases, particularly hepatic fibrosis, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and variceal bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying liver injury and repair, with a strong emphasis on nuclear receptors such as PPAR-alpha and PPAR-gamma in lipid metabolism and fibrosis. It also explores gut-liver axis pathophysiology, including bacterial translocation and systemic inflammation, and evaluates non-invasive diagnostic tools like transient elastography for liver fibrosis assessment.
