About the Lab

Professor Yongju Kwon's research lab focuses on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents for cancer and fibrotic diseases, with a strong emphasis on targeting molecular mechanisms underlying triple-negative breast cancer, liver fibrosis, and chemotherapy-induced mucositis. The lab specializes in designing small organic molecules and targeted nanotherapeutics—such as CD44-targeted hyaluronic acid-bilirubin nanoparticles and transcription factor-mimicking compounds—that modulate key cellular pathways with high specificity and reduced off-target toxicity. Their work bridges organic chemistry, molecular pharmacology, and translational medicine to develop innovative treatments for currently underserved or treatment-resistant conditions.
