About the Lab

Professor Yoon Jun Kim's research lab focuses on integrative oncogenomics and molecular hepatology, with a primary emphasis on understanding the genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic mechanisms underlying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma (CC), and their overlapping variant, combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC). The lab employs multi-omics approaches to identify prognostic subtypes, uncover molecular drivers of tumor progression, and explore the clinical implications of phenotypic and molecular overlap between liver cancers. Additionally, the lab investigates metabolic liver disease, particularly hepatic steatosis and its links to insulin resistance and cardiovascular risk, using imaging and biopsy-based assessments in clinical populations.
