About the Lab

Professor Young Dae Kim's research lab focuses on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, particularly the interplay between metabolic disorders such as NAFLD and sarcopenia with increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The lab investigates stroke pathophysiology, risk stratification using clinical scores like CHADS(2), and optimal management strategies for acute conditions such as ischemic stroke and variceal bleeding in liver cirrhosis. A key emphasis is placed on early intervention, risk prediction, and improving outcomes in aging and high-risk populations, especially in East Asian populations undergoing rapid lifestyle and demographic transitions.
