About the Lab

Professor Young Soo Yang's research lab specializes in international business strategy, with a focus on multinational enterprise (MNE) internationalization, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and innovation performance. The lab investigates how firm-level characteristics—such as top management team (TMT) international experience, political connections, and performance feedback mechanisms—affect strategic decisions in global markets. It also explores the role of knowledge, R&D intensity, and institutional factors in shaping sustainable performance and innovation outcomes, particularly in emerging market firms and high-tech industries like biotechnology.

Abstract Research summary This study combines transaction cost economics and network learning literature to examine the moderating effect of knowledge from internal versus external local supplier on subsidiary‐level intrafirm trade within multinational enterprises' (MNEs) global value chain networks. We conceptualize knowledge in a multidimensional way, disentangling it into institutional knowledge in high‐risk countries and internationalization knowledge in all countries. Empirical results from

Jae-Eun Lee, Young Soo Yang
SJR Q2Frontiers in PsychologyOA

This study empirically analyzes how corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance feedback impacts CSR performance, focusing on the performance feedback perspective of behavioral theory of the firm (BTOF). By performing generalized least squares (GLS) regression analysis based on Korean company data from 2012 to 2019, we presented evidence that positive social and historical performance feedback had a positive effect on CSR performance. International Strategy, R&D Intensity, and Sustainable Earnings of Biotech Firms
Jaehong Lee, Young Soo Yang
SJR Q1SustainabilityOA

For a relatively small country such as Korea to successfully establish its presence in the global biotech industry, it must pair a successful domestic model with an effective export strategy. However, there are little empirical findings on the relationship between biotech firms’ internationalization strategy, research and development (R&D) intensity, and sustainable earnings. Thus, we explore this often overlooked area by analyzing the relationship between the international strategies and su

SJR Q1INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS REVIEW

The applicable possibility of dual-mode sorption/mobility model and the change of mean permeation coefficient as the change of the plasma input power were investigated from the sorption and permeation experiments of CO2 in polystyrene membrane treated with NH3 plasma. The sorption experiment carried out using a pressure decay method and the permeation experiment carried out using a variable-volume method. The sorption and permeation behavior of CO2 were simulated well in terms of the dual-mode s
