BACKGROUND: To investigate the accommodative loads change needed to maintain binocular fusion in patients with intermittent exotropia (IXT). METHODS: Seventeen consecutive patients with basic IXT and 15 normal controls were recruited. 목적: 눈 피로를 객관적으로 평가할 수 있는 방법에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 대상과 방법: 건강한 성인 15명을 대상으로 정해진 컴퓨터 작업을 1시간 시행하여 눈 피로를 유발한 후 설문조사로 작업 전후 주관적인 눈 피로를 평가하였다. 객관적인 눈 피로 평가 방법은 눈물막 파괴시간, 눈보호지수, 결막 충혈도, 눈 깜빡임 없이 참을 수 있는 최대 시간, 안구표면온도, 폭주 및 개산 융합력, 시유발전위도를 작업 전과 직후에 비교 측정하였으며, 눈둘레근 표면근전도는 작업 전 5분 간과 작업 동안 시행하여 변화를 분석하였다. 결과: 피검자 모두 작업 후 주관적인 눈 피로도 증가를 보였다. 작업 후 눈물막 파괴시간, 눈보호지수, 눈 깜빡임 없이 참을 수 있는 최대 시간이 유의하게 감소하였으며, 안구표면온도는 유의하게 증가하였다(P<0.05). 결론: 눈물막 파괴시간, 눈보호지수, 눈을 깜빡이지 않고 참을 수 있는 최대 시간, 안구표면온도가 눈 피로를 객관적으로 평가하는 데 사용될 수 있겠다.
