About the Lab
Professor Yu-Mi Yoo's research lab focuses on ophthalmic biophotonics and clinical ophthalmology, with a primary emphasis on intraocular lens (IOL) performance evaluation under real-world optical conditions. The lab investigates image quality, chromatic aberration, and visual outcomes of advanced IOLs—particularly extended depth-of-focus and refractive designs—using in vitro optical metrology. Additionally, the lab contributes to clinical research on sexual health in gynecologic cancer survivors and the epidemiology of infectious diseases such as nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) and healthcare-associated infections, including hospital-acquired ventriculitis (HVO).

Compared with healthy women, sexuality was not impaired in cervical cancer survivors who showed no evidence of disease after primary treatment and engaging in sexual activity. Further prospective cohort studies are warranted to confirm this finding.
The FSFI-6K has high internal consistency and acceptable reliability. This validated questionnaire can be used for the Korean population.
Based on our susceptibility data, vancomycin combined with a broad-spectrum cephalosporin or fluoroquinolone may be appropriate for empiric treatment of HVO. Fluoroquinolone-based oral combinations may be not appropriate due to frequent resistance to these agents, especially in cases of healthcare-associated HVO.
