A lightweight image encryption algorithm is presented based on chaos induction via a 5-dimensional hyperjerk oscillator (5DHO) network. First, the dynamics of our 5DHO network is investigated and shown to exhibit up to five coexisting hidden attractors in the state space that depend exclusively on the system's initial values. Further, a simple implementation of the circuit was used to validate its ability to exhibit chaotic dynamical properties. Second, an Arduino UNO platform is used to confirm
Adopting a generalization of the DiVincenzo criteria for the physical realization of quantum devices, a standalone component each, is proposed to prepare, manipulate, and measure the various content required to represent and produce movies on quantum computers. The quantum CD encodes, prepares, and initializes the broad content or key frames conveying the movie script. The quantum player uses the simple motion operations to manipulate the contents of the key frames in order to interpolate the mi
Exploiting the promise of security and efficiency that quantum computing offers, the basic foundations leading to commercial applications for quantum image processing are proposed. Two mathematical frameworks and algorithms to accomplish the watermarking of quantum images, authentication of ownership of already watermarked images and recovery of their unmarked versions on quantum computers are proposed. Encoding the images as 2n-sized normalised Flexible Representation of Quantum Images (FRQI) s
Chaotic systems are vital in designing contemporary cryptographic systems. This study proposes an innovative method for constructing an effective substitution box using a 3-dimensional chaotic map. Moreover, bouyed by the efficiency of the proposed chaos-based substitution boxes’ effectiveness, we introduce a new chaos-based image cryptosystem that combines the adeptness of Gray codes, a non-linear and sensitive hyper-chaotic system, and the proposed S-box. The generated secret key emanating fro
A quantum hybrid (QH) intelligent approach that blends the adaptive search capability of the quantum-behaved particle swarm optimisation (QPSO) method with the intuitionistic rationality of traditional fuzzy k-nearest neighbours (Fuzzy k-NN) algorithm (known simply as the Q-Fuzzy approach) is proposed for efficient feature selection and classification of cells in cervical smeared (CS) images. From an initial multitude of 17 features describing the geometry, colour, and texture of t
A scheme is proposed to watermark and recover unmarked greyscale images on quantum computers. The hitherto inaccessible data from a quantum image-watermark pair is extracted from their classical (conventional or non-quantum) versions using which two quantum sub-circuits are used to execute the two-tier transformations comprising of changes that: 1 embed a visible and translucent watermark logo in a predetermined sub-area of the quantum replica of the cover image 2 modify the remaining content of
The advent of the fourth industrial revolution along with developments in other emerging technologies, such as Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence as well as cloud and quantum computing, smart healthcare systems (SHS) are becoming ubiquitous in our daily lives. Meanwhile, patients, doctors, and other medical personnel rely on the safe and efficient storage, transmission, and analysis of medical images and electronic health records for successful diagnosis, treatment, and manage
An enhanced quantum-based image fidelity metric, the QIFM metric, is proposed as a tool to assess the “congruity” between two or more quantum images. The often confounding contrariety that distinguishes between classical and quantum information processing makes the widely accepted peak-signal-to-noise-ratio (PSNR) ill-suited for use in the quantum computing framework, whereas the prohibitive cost of the probability-based similarity score makes it imprudent for use as an effective image quality m
To circumvent problems associated with dependence on traditional security systems on passwords, Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) and tokens, modern security systems adopt biometric traits that are inimitable to each individual for identification and verification. This study presents two different frameworks for secure person identification using cancellable face recognition (CFR) schemes. Exploiting its ability to guarantee irrevocability and rich diversity, both frameworks utilise Random
Determining the amount of void fraction of multiphase flows in pipelines of the oil, chemical and petrochemical industries is one of the most important challenges. Performance of capacitance based two phase flow meters highly depends on the fluid properties. Fluctuation of the liquid phase properties such as density, due to temperature and pressure changes, would cause massive errors in determination of the void fraction. A common approach to fix this problem is periodic recalibration of the sys
Scale formation inside oil and gas pipelines is always one of the main threats to the efficiency of equipment and their depreciation. In this study, an artificial intelligence method method is presented to provide the flow regime and volume percentage of a two-phase flow while considering the presence of scale inside the test pipe. In this non-invasive method, a dual-energy source of barium-133 and cesium-137 isotopes is irradiated, and the photons are absorbed by a detector as they pass through
