Professor Dae Hun Suh's research lab focuses on the pathophysiology of inflammatory skin disorders, particularly acne and hidradenitis suppurativa, with an emphasis on the roles of chronic inflammation, growth factors like TGF-β1, and extracellular matrix remodeling in scar formation. The lab investigates novel therapeutic approaches, including fractional CO₂ laser and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, to modulate fibrogenic responses and improve clinical outcomes. Additionally, the lab explores cultural influences on physician empathy through validated psychological assessments, highlighting cross-cultural differences in medical education and patient care. Our findings provide evidence in support of reliability and construct validity of the Korean version of JSPE for assessing empathy among Korean physicians. The disparity between Korean physicians and physicians from other countries may be explained by differences in the culture of medical education and medical practice. It suggests an exploration of cross-cultural differences in physician empathy.
Taken together with human study results combined with the data from cell experiments we suggest that PRP treatment increased fibrogenetic molecules induced by fractional CO<sub>2</sub> laser, which have association with clinical effect. The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of UVA and UVB on comedones and sebum secretion in acne patients. Thirteen acne patients were irradiated by UVA (starting from 20J/cm2 and increasing 10% every day) and UVB (starting from 2/3 MED and increasing 10% every day).
