Professor EunMi Choi's research lab specializes in high-power microwave sources and advanced electromagnetic materials. The lab focuses on gyrotron development for fusion energy applications, particularly optimizing efficiency and output power in high-frequency, high-power microwave generation using advanced cavity and collector designs. It also explores novel 2D MXene-based nanomaterials for electromagnetic interference shielding and high electrical conductivity, with a strong emphasis on experimental validation and materials engineering. The lab integrates fundamental research in mathematical sequences, such as tribonacci numbers, with applied physics and engineering innovations.

Methylglyoxal is a reactive dicarbonyl compound produced by glycolytic processing and identified as a precursor of advanced glycation end products. The elevated methylglyoxal levels in patients with diabetes are believed to contribute to diabetic complications, including bone defects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of methylglyoxal on the function of osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells. The data indicated that methylglyoxal decreased osteoblast differentiation and induced osteobl
Methylglyoxal (MG) contributes to the pathogenesis of age- and diabetes-associated complications. The present study investigated the effects of glabridin on MG-induced cytotoxicity in MC3T3-E1 osteoblastic cells. MC3T3-E1 cells were treated with glabridin in the presence of MG, and markers of mitochondrial function and oxidative damage were examined. Pretreatment of MC3T3-E1 osteoblastic cells with glabridin prevented MG-induced cell death, the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species
This paper presents the experimental observation of the effect of an aftercavity interaction (ACI) in a depressed collector gyrotron oscillator. The gyrotron generates an output power of 1.5MW at 110GHz in 3μs pulses with a 96kV and 40A electron beam and has a single-stage depressed collector. The ACI arises from an unintended cyclotron resonant interaction between the microwave beam traveling out from the cavity and the gyrating electron beam. The interaction occurs in the uptaper of the launch
Broadband and ultrathin electromagnetic interference (EMI)-shielding materials are crucial for efficient high-frequency data transmission in emerging technologies. MXenes are renowned for their outstanding electrical conductivity and EMI-shielding capability. While substituting nitrogen (N) for carbon (C) atoms in the conventional MXene structure is theoretically expected to enhance these properties, synthesis challenges have hindered progress. Here, it is demonstrated that TixCy
In this experiment, we studied the effects of pomegranate fruit extract (PE) on the function of osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells and the production of local factors in osteoblasts. PE (16 approximately 250 microg/ml) significantly increased the growth of MC3T3-E1 cells (P < 0.05). Moreover, PE (50 microg/ml) caused a significant elevation of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and collagen content in the cells. We then examined the effect of PE on the TNF-alpha-induced production of interleukin-6 (IL
In this work we study the tribonacci numbers. We find a tribonacci triangle which is an analog of Pascal triangle. We also investigate an efficient method to compute any <TEX>$n$</TEX>th tribonacci numbers by matrix method, and find periods of the sequence by taking modular tribonacci number.
