Hak-Sung Kim

Professor Hak-Sung Kim's research lab specializes in atmospheric aerosol science and nuclear materials engineering, focusing on the characterization and modeling of airborne particulate matter across East Asia and the development of advanced neutron irradiation techniques for semiconductor materials. The lab investigates the optical and microphysical properties of aerosols using satellite remote sensing data (e.g., MODIS) to understand regional pollution transport, sources, and climatic impacts, particularly during seasonal events like dust storms and monsoon-related haze. In parallel, the lab conducts computational simulations using Monte Carlo methods (e.g., MCNP) to optimize neutron transmutation doping processes in silicon crystals for high-performance semiconductor applications.
