Professor Hyuck Mo Lee's research lab specializes in the design and synthesis of advanced nanomaterials for sustainable energy applications, with a primary focus on electrocatalysts for water splitting and energy conversion. The lab develops core-shell nanostructures and doped transition metal (oxy)hydroxides to enhance catalytic activity, stability, and durability in electrochemical processes. Key research directions include the rational engineering of noble-metal-free catalysts, understanding surface segregation and oxidation mechanisms, and formulating functional inks for printable electronics. The lab combines advanced materials synthesis with in-depth characterization techniques such as XPS, APT, and electron microscopy to achieve structure-property relationships.

In this work, we synthesized uniform Cu-Ag core-shell nanoparticles using a facile two-step process that consists of thermal decomposition and galvanic displacement methods. The core-shell structure of these nanoparticles was confirmed through characterization using transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction.
