Professor Jee Soo Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on cancer biology, inflammatory mechanisms in gastrointestinal diseases, and advanced surgical techniques in thyroid surgery. The lab investigates molecular pathways involved in tumor progression, particularly the role of cytokines like TNF-alpha and natural compounds such as silibinin in regulating matrix metalloproteinases in gastric cancer. Additionally, the lab explores clinical applications of minimally invasive and robotic thyroid surgery, aiming to improve patient outcomes through innovative surgical approaches.

Two arbitrary life distributions F and G can be ordered with respect to their Laplace transforms. We say is Laplace-smaller than for all s > 0. Interpretations of this ordering concept in reliability, operations research, and economics are described. General preservation properties are presented. Using these preservation results we derive useful inequalities and discuss their applications to M/G/ 1 queues, time series, coherent systems, shock models and cumulative damage models.
Given the lack of proven benefits and the clear evidence of morbidities, pCND cannot be recommended as a routine procedure. We suggest that CND be reserved for therapeutic situations.
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha is one of the pro-inflammatory cytokines highly expressed in Helicobacter pylori that inhibits gastric acid secretion. In this study we determined the effect of silibinin on TNF-alpha-induced MMP-9 expression in gastric cancer cell lines. Routine oral calcium and vitamin D supplements are beneficial after total thyroidectomy with central neck lymph node dissection with no difference between cholecalciferol and calcitriol.
