Professor Ji Hoon Song's research lab specializes in organizational behavior and human resource development, with a strong focus on learning organization culture, work engagement, and knowledge creation in Korean and East Asian organizational contexts. The lab investigates how transformational leadership, interpersonal trust, self-efficacy, and team dynamics influence employee performance, creativity, and organizational learning. Using advanced quantitative methods such as structural equation modeling and hierarchical regression, the lab emphasizes empirical validation of theoretical models in real-world organizational settings.

Abstract Engagement as an area of increasing interest has been discussed in terms of a wide array of organizational policies, practices, and outcomes. This study focuses on a specific aspect of work engagement and its relationship with leadership practices and the outcome of knowledge creation. The mediating effect of employees' work engagement level was assessed to explain the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational knowledge creation practices in the Korean business
Abstract The purpose of this study is to assess the validity and reliability of the measurement scores of the learning organization culture, the Dimensions of Learning Organization Questionnaire (DLOQ), in a Korean context. A total of 1,529 cases from 11 firms in two major Korean conglomerates were analyzed. Rigorous translation procedures, including both forward and backward processes, have been applied to ensure the relevance of this instrumentation in different cultural contexts. As the resul
Abstract The primary purpose of this research was to assess the effect of learning organization culture on the linkage between interpersonal trust and organizational commitment. The study sample was obtained from employees of two major Korean conglomerates. Online questionnaires were completed by 321 respondents. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to detect the effects of learning organization culture on the basis of the model fit to data comparisons and the significance of path coeffic
This study examines the structural relationships among learning‐organization culture, self‐efficacy, work engagement, and job performance in Korean workforce institutions. The authors also investigated the mediating roles of teachers’ self‐efficacy and work engagement on the relationship between the learning‐organization culture and teachers’ job performance. Working with a total of 481 valid surveys from workforce‐education teachers at 21 Korean workforce‐education schools, structural equation
This study investigates the influence of perceived learning culture, developmental feedback and team cohesion on team creativity. The results showed that the demographic variables, the three antecedents and their interactions explained 41 per cent of variance in team creativity. Team creativity was positively correlated with a higher level of learning culture, developmental feedback and team cohesion. In addition to the main effects, two interaction effects (developmental feedback and team cohes
The purpose of this article is to examine the link between individual learning processes and continuous organizational knowledge formation through an integrated literature review of these perspectives from both academic and practical viewpoints. In the current fierce economic environment, individual knowledge is regarded as the most valuable asset for competitive advantage. However, only when individual knowledge is accumulated and embedded into organizational culture as organizational knowledge
The problem The development of the Dimensions of the Learning Organization Questionnaire (DLOQ) has been contributing to the research on the learning organization both academically and practically. However, scholarly use of the DLOQ has been greater in the human resource development (HRD)-related disciplines. To encourage wider use, HRD researchers should acknowledge and reflect on the limitations of the extant literature and put an effort into providing theoretical foundations for how the DLOQ
Natural sources are very promising materials for the discovery of novel bioactive compounds with diverse pharmacological effects. In recent years, many researchers have focused on natural sources as a means to prevent neuronal cell death in neuropathological conditions. This study focused on identifying neuroprotective compounds and their underlying molecular mechanisms. Procyanidin C1 (PC-1) was isolated from grape seeds and assessed for biological effects against glutamate-induced HT22 cell de
Purpose – This aim of the current research is to provide empirical evidence for the relationships among several organizational factors affecting team performance improvement, including the learning organization and employee engagement. In addition, the mediating effect of employee engagement was assessed to explain team performance improvement within the supportive learning organization. The target sample consisted of major Korean for-profit firms, and a total of 309 cases were used for data ana
This research aims to identify the influence of learning organization culture on the practices of organizational knowledge‐creation. Actionable knowledge‐creation practices are put forward as a variable in preference to the learning process itself because they may be more closely related to the achievement of individual and/or organizational performance improvement. Learning organization culture is defined in terms of the seven dimensions of the learning organization established by Watkins and M
Cisplatin is a well-known anticancer drug frequently used for treating solid tumors, including ovarian, testicular, bladder, and cervical tumors. However, usage of cisplatin has been limited because of its adverse effects, particularly nephrotoxicity. Therefore, the present study sought to investigate the protective effect of formononetin against cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity in LLC-PK1 pig kidney epithelial cells as well as the anticancer effect of cisplatin in three different human cervical c
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop and validate a measurement tool for assessing organizational knowledge creation practices based on the socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization (SECI) processes of the knowledge creation theory. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected from a sample of 455 knowledge workers from four Korean for‐profit organizations, utilizing a systematic procedure, which includes: initial item and domain development based on a compre
Abstract Purpose – The primary purposes of the current paper are to: provide theoretically clear concepts of the learning organization (LO) and organizational learning (OL) process; and empirically test the relationships among research constructs – environmental aspects of the LO and three types of OL processes at the levels of individual, group/team, and organization – by using structural equation modeling. Design/methodology/approach – A total of 200 cases were collected from 50 small‐medium s
