Professor Jidong Sung's research lab focuses on cardiovascular health, with a strong emphasis on vascular function, hypertension management, and the impact of lifestyle and natural interventions on cardiovascular risk. The lab investigates physiological responses to exercise, autonomic nervous system function (particularly heart rate recovery), and arterial stiffness, especially in preclinical and early stages of hypertension. It also explores the therapeutic potential of traditional Korean medicine, such as Korean red ginseng, in improving endothelial function. The lab is committed to developing culturally adapted, valid clinical assessment tools, such as the Korean version of the Duke Activity Status Index, to enhance functional status measurement in cardiovascular patients.

In this large cross-sectional study, higher levels of serum triglycerides were significantly associated with an increasing prevalence of both non-advanced and advanced colorectal adenomas, while higher levels of ApoA-1 and HDL cholesterol were significantly associated with an increasing prevalence of non-advanced adenomas.
In normotensive individuals, increased arterial stiffness, as reflected by baPWV, is accompanied by higher SBP at the early stage of treadmill exercise test.
