Professor Jinhee Lee's research lab focuses on infectious disease immunology, particularly tuberculosis (TB) pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions, with an emphasis on myeloid cell responses and T cell immunity. The lab also investigates adolescent suicide risk using large-scale epidemiological data and develops predictive models for mental health interventions. Additionally, the lab explores humanized mouse models to study human immune responses to infections like TB and HIV, aiming to improve translational research. A growing interest in applying artificial intelligence to dermatological and cosmetic science further expands the lab’s interdisciplinary scope.

Cell death caused by virulent M. tuberculosis is distinct from classical apoptosis, pyroptosis or pyronecrosis. Mycobacterial genes essential for cytotoxicity are regulated by the PhoPR two-component system.
