Professor Jung Tae Kim's research lab specializes in interdisciplinary studies spanning educational technology, biomedical sciences, and cybersecurity. The lab develops innovative models for gamified learning to enhance educational effectiveness through psychological and cognitive factors such as curiosity and control, while also investigating molecular mechanisms in immunology—particularly the role of Wnt5a in B cell survival within germinal centers. In parallel, the lab advances secure media sharing systems in home networks and applies artificial intelligence to detect malicious PowerShell scripts, addressing critical challenges in cybersecurity and digital safety. These diverse research directions reflect a strong commitment to solving real-world problems through technology and biological insight.

The purpose of this paper is to hypothesize ‘Dynamical model of educational effectiveness for the gamification of learning, and to widely announce a pure and right function of game through our model. For the theoretical contribution of gamification, we propose a dynamical model of game based learning that aims to maximize educational effectiveness that correlates with the four main primary factors (curiosity, challenge, fantasy and control). The main idea of this model is based on the correlatio
The purpose of these practice guidelines is to offer and share strategies for preventing extravasation and measures for handling drugs known to cause tissue necrosis, which may occur even with the most skilled experts at intravenous (IV) injection. Herein, general knowledge about extravasation is first described, including its definition, incidence, risk factors, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and extravasation injuries. Management of extravasation includes nursing intervention and thermal a
Follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) protect germinal center (GC) B cells from rapid apoptosis to allow their survival and maturation. In this article, we show that FDCs normally produce and secrete Wnt5a to protect GC B cells. Wnt5a production is upregulated by polyI:C. Purified Wnt5a protects GC B cells from apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner. GC B cells are protected by FDC coculture or conditioned medium, and the protection is inhibited significantly by anti-Wnt5a Ab, suggesting a major role
The paper proposes a methodology to provide services for accessing and sharing various media contents securely, those are distributed over consumer electronics (CEs) in the home network. To do so, we propose the DLNA proxy system (DPS) architecture which helps to gather various media information available from the distributed AV devices in the home and to share the media contents across the public IP network via established secure channels. The proxy system is implemented on the home server whic
Hughes and Stovin first reported a syndrome consisting of multiple pulmonary artery aneurysms and venous thrombosis in 1959. We encountered a 45-year-old man who had massive hemoptysis and leg swelling. The CT and angiography showed huge bilateral pulmonary artery aneurysms and inferior vena caval thrombosis. The bilateral lower lobe aneurysms were successfully treated with staged operations. The patient tolerated the procedures relatively well and was followed up by steroid therapy with a good
Cyberattacks are often difficult to identify with traditional signature-based detection, because attackers continually find ways to bypass the detection methods. Therefore, researchers have introduced artificial intelligence (AI) technology for cybersecurity analysis to detect malicious PowerShell scripts. In this paper, we propose a feature optimization technique for AI-based approaches to enhance the accuracy of malicious PowerShell script detection. We statically analyze the PowerShell script
Today, RFID technologies are being applied in ubiquitous sensor network system to improve the quality of healthcare system. In this paper, we have investigated and surveyed on security and privacy issues in RFID systems and their applications related with IoT (Internet on Things). Wireless sensor networks can be applied for ubiquitous health monitoring, improving users' well-being, making the healthcare system more efficient, and helping to quickly react on emergency situations. To meet the stri
The paper proposes a methodology to provide the multimedia service framework to provide an integrated multimedia service in the ubiquitous home network. To do so, we define the requirements of a home media server (HMS), and implement its functionalities as a gateway for establishing connections between the home and external networks. The proposed HMS pursues, not only the integration of home network middleware technologies that allow automatic control and information sharing with various consume
network and the unique security mechanism used in each one of these networks. The security consideration should satisfy a concise set of cryptographic and security mechanisms, single security policy framework, and configuration parameters policydependent. This may require consideration of system perspectives, taking into account the entire system and device lifecycle, ease-of-use and ease-of-deployment. Finally, we analyzed requirement of IoT security gateway system to improve vulnerability of s
Thyroid cancer is associated with genetic alterations, e.g. BRAFV600E , which may cause carcinomatous changes in hormone-secreting epithelial cells. Epidemiological studies have shown that overnutrition is related to the development and progression of cancer. In this study, we attempted to identify the cell nonautonomous factor responsible for the progression of BRAFV600E thyroid cancer under overnutrition conditions. We developed a mouse model for inducible thyrocyte-speci
