Professor Kyoung Jun Song's research lab focuses on emergency cardiovascular care and prehospital emergency medicine, with a particular emphasis on extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). The lab investigates factors influencing survival outcomes, including early initiation of ECPR and variations in emergency medical services (EMS) systems across diverse regions, especially in Asia. Their work aims to identify system-level improvements and inform evidence-based protocols to enhance patient survival and care quality.
Figures are computed from collected data and may differ slightly.
Early initiation of ECPR is associated with improved survival after OHCA. Because we analysed a nationwide OHCA registry, which lacks uniform selection criteria for ECPR, further prospective study is warranted.
This article presents
Substantial variability exists in EMS systems in Asia, especially for injured patients. Futures studies are required to assess the impact of this variability on patient outcomes.
