Interplanetary scintillation is a useful means to measure the solar wind in regions inaccessible to in situ observation. However, interplanetary scintillation measurements involve a line‐of‐sight integration, which relates contributions from all locations along the line of sight to the actual observation. We have developed a computer assisted tomography (CAT) program to reduce the adverse effects of the line‐of‐sight integration. The program uses solar rotation and solar wind motion to provide t
Catalytic acceptorless dehydrogenation is an environmentally benign way to desaturate organic compounds. This process is traditionally accomplished with transition-metal-based catalysts. Herein, a borane-catalyzed, metal-free acceptorless dehydrogenation of saturated N-heterocycles is disclosed. Tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane was identified as a versatile catalyst, which afforded several synthetically important N-heteroarenes in up to quantitative yield. Specifically, the present metal-free catal
The solar cycle evolution of solar wind speed structure was studied for the years from 1973 to 1985 on a basis of interplanetary scintillation observations using a new method for mapping solar wind speed to the source surface. The major minimum‐speed regions are distributed along a neutral line through the whole period of a solar cycle: when solar activity is low, they are distributed on the wavy neutral line along the solar equator; in the active phase they also tend to be distributed along the
Hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) hydrogenation has recently emerged as an indispensable method for the chemoselective reduction of unactivated alkenes. However, the hitherto reported systems basically require stoichiometric amounts of silanes and peroxides, which prevents wider applications, especially with respect to sustainability and safety concerns. Herein, we report a silane- and peroxide-free HAT hydrogenation using a combined cobalt/photoredox catalysis and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) as a sole
We have investigated the origin of low‐speed winds observed in association with active regions near the equator at times of solar activity minimum. The solar wind velocity distribution on a source surface at 2.5 R s is derived by interplanetary scintillation tomographic analysis, and compact low‐speed regions in it are investigated in relation to active regions and large‐flux‐expansion regions. We show that although the low‐speed regions tend to be located near active regions, they are more clos
Co-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions have received little attention, arguably because of the lack of any known advantage of Co catalysis over either Rh or Ir catalysis. Described here is a general and regioselective Co-catalyzed allylic alkylation using an in situ catalyst activation by organophotoredox catalysis. This noble-metal-free catalytic system exhibits unprecedentedly high reactivities and regioselectivities for the allylation with an allyl sulfone, for the first time, representi
This is the first study analyzing the flow alterations among multiple Enterprise stents and flow diverters. The placement of small meshed stents dramatically reduced the aneurysmal fluid movement. However, compared to the flow diverters, we did not observe the reduction of flow velocity within the aneurysm by the multiple stents.

Intramolecular hydroarylation of alkenes through hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) represents a robust method to prepare benzo-fused heterocycles. However, the reported methods have limitations in a variety of accessible cyclic scaffolds. Here we report a dual cobalt- and photoredox-catalyzed HAT hydroarylation of alkenes that is characterized by higher efficiency in the synthesis of a δ-lactam compared to established protocols. The proposed mechanism is supported by experiments and DFT calculations.
