Professor Oksoo Kim's research lab focuses on aging, mental health, and health disparities among older adults, particularly older Korean immigrants and vulnerable populations. The lab investigates psychosocial factors such as loneliness, social support, ethnic attachment, and body image in relation to mental health outcomes like depression and self-esteem. Key research directions include the impact of lifestyle and occupational factors on long-term health, as well as the therapeutic potential of emerging technologies like virtual reality in cognitive health. The lab emphasizes culturally adapted interventions and preventive strategies for mental and physical well-being across the lifespan.
